The Treehouse Gallery is proud to announce its latest show: “One, Two, Tree” opening Saturday September 26th at its home in the Pauwela Cannery. This is an interactive art experience with an opportunity to both view great art and even create some of your own. This is a family-friendly event, so bring the kids. There will be food and live music, an opportunity to immerse yourself in amazing, eclectic art, and connect with an inspiring artist community in this wondrous space.

Treehouse “Lead Bird” and Founder Jesse Lenihan’s goal is to create a space where artists and the public can come to create, collaborate and set off creative sparks in one another. As a builder with no artistic background, Lenihan’s vision was initially inspired by his desire to get his heavy equipment out of his bedroom. As he says: “Sleeping with a table saw is far less glamorous than it sounds, and finding a shop space was my original motivation”. Then a conversation with now resident artist, Taylor Binda, “…really opened me up to the universal desire for work space on Maui, particularly for artist and creatives. After stumbling across a rough but grand space in Pauwela Cannery, the rest was simply hard work and a community-minded approach.”

The “One , Two, Tree” event highlights both resident artists and guest artists Melissa Bruck and Catalina Ezcurra, and is representative of the wide variety and exciting cutting edge art you can expect to find in this gallery. “My art says all kinds of things” says Catalina. “Every single piece is different from the other. It never stays the same, just like life, we have ups and downs, lights and darks, and we are always changing”.

This month’s show will include a benefit auction to support medical expenses of long time community member Rebekah Uccellini. The auction is a wonderful example of how the Treehouse Gallery is growing roots within our beloved Maui Ohana, and seeks to merge art with community service.

The “One, Two, Tree” show is the next installment in the Treehouse’s “Last Saturday” series that occurs the last Saturday of each month. It opens on September 26th, 4pm-9pm at the Treehouse Gallery: 375 West Kuiaha Road, Unit 24 Haiku, HI 96708. The art will remain on exhibit at the Treehouse and can be viewed Monday, September 28th – Thursday, October 1st, 11am to 4pm.
