The Bailey House Museum, in partnership with Bryant Neal, Richard Mickelson, and The Story of Hawaii Museum, is proud to present The Mapping of Hawaii, Part II, a singular and unique experience that combines history, geography, cartography, and historical artifacts of the Hawaiian Islands to create a wonderfully educational and entertaining experience.  This special exhibition covers the daring exploits of Polynesian navigators to the maps made by early explorers, the Hawaiian monarchy, Hawaii’s territorial days, World War II, Statehood to present.   On rare display will be restored maps of early Lahaina Town.  Our museum gift shop will have selected map prints available for sale.  Special exhibition from Monday, September 22nd to Saturday, September 27th from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.  Museum Day Live! is an annual event hosted by Smithsonian Magazine in which participating museums across the country offer free admission to anyone presenting a Museum Day Live! ticket in the spirit of the Smithsonian Museums, who offer free admission every day. Hale Hō`ike`ike, The Bailey House Museum, is proud to represent Maui as the only participating museum this year on Maui and we welcome you to visit on Saturday, September 27, 2014 from 10 am to 4 pm.  For free admission on Saturday, September 27th, visit www.smithsonianmag.com/museumday/ticket to participate in the Smithsonian’s Museum Day Live! free museum admission day!  For more information, visitwww.MauiMuseum.org or call 244-3326.
