Notes: The Kihei School Garden is located in the center of campus, just beyond the main office adjacent to the cafeteria playground. Parking available in front parking lots. Gathering includes a potluck picnic afterwards with special garden grown treats.
2. Kihei Charter Middle School
41 E Lipoa St, Kihei, HI 96753
Notes: Located at Lipoa Center in rear of building. Garden care followed by a hand-on workshop (starts 11:30 am) on how to make Bokashi – a Japanese farming technique used to boost and accelerate compost.
3. Kamali’i Elementary School
180 Alanui Kealii Dr, Kihei, HI 96753
Notes: Garden located near ft entrance, adjacent to basketball court. Tasks include installing a new shed and platform, composting, weeding, amending soil and turning cover crops.
4. Wailuku Elementary School
355 S. High Street
Wailuku, HI 96793
Notes: Garden is located in back of campus behind buildings K and L, adjacent to Koeli Street. Bring a fresh snack or dish to share for a garden ohana picnic afterwards.
Please join us for all or part of the day – at either location.
What to Bring: Closed toe shoes, hat, sunscreen and gloves are recommended. Also, please bring your own drinking container. Drinking water will be provided.

The tour includes a behind-the-scenes visit to the Aquarium’s wet laboratory and chance to observe the feeding habits of sharks and sea turtles. Fees are applicable to parents and guardians accompanying children on the tour. Space is limited and advance reservations are recommended. $10 per person plus admission. Children ages 3-12 are invited to a captivating story time followed by a fun ocean-themed craft! Story Time & Craft Hour is hosted by an Ocean Naturalist and takes place every Saturday at 11:30am in Maui Ocean Center’s Hawaiians and the Sea Exhibit.
Talk Story & Hula Lessons with Kahu Dane Maxwell and ‘Ohana
Tuesdays, September–October at 11:45am
Visitors to Maui Ocean Center will have an opportunity to hear from Maui Ocean Center’s Hawaiian Cultural Advisor Kahu Dane Maxwell and take in a hula lesson. Kahu Dane Maxwell and ‘Ohana (family) will conduct a talk story session and hula lesson at the Hawaiians and the Sea exhibit. This activity is complimentary with aquarium admission and appropriate for all ages. Schedule subject to change.
