Join a Wet Naturalist at the Discovery Pool and/or Tide Pool for exciting hands-on presentations on Hawaii’s marine invertebrates. Talk Story & Hula Lessons with Kahu Dane Maxwell and ‘Ohana

Kahu Dane Maxwell and ‘Ohana (family) will conduct a talk story session and hula lesson at the Hawaiians and the Sea exhibit. This activity is complimentary with aquarium admission and appropriate for all ages. Schedule subject to change.

Turtle-rrific Thursday

Thursdays- February 5 and 19, March 5 and 19, April 2 and 16 at 2pm

Learn about Hawaii’s beloved green sea turtles in an up close and personal setting.  Guests will learn about the biology, behavior and diet of green sea turtles from the team that cares for the animals on a daily basis. This activity is included with Aquarium admission.

Pacific Whale Foundation’s Great Whale Count

Join Pacific Whale Foundation researchers and volunteers for this annual citizens’ count of the humpback whales that can be viewed from Maui’s coastline. During this count, you’ll learn more about whales and whale research methods, and you’ll meet others who share your interest in whales. There’s no cost to participate, and all the equipment is provided.

Click on “SIGN UP!” and create your own username and password. Please do not choose any events until you have received an email confirmation that your username and password have been accepted. You can then login again to select the events and shifts that you want.

Registration for this event opens in mid-January. Due to the scientific nature of this event, the number of volunteers Pacific Whale Foundation can accept at each site is limited and positions fill up quickly. Thanks for your support and happy counting!

Public is Invited to Pu’u Kukui Elementary School PTSA’s Inaugural Spring Fling

The Pu‘u Kukui Elementary School Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) is hosting its inaugural Spring Fling event on Saturday, February 28, 2015 on the Pu’u Kukui Elementary School campus.

Open to the public, the Spring Fling will kick off at 2:00 p.m. with a silent auction, student-run arcade, photo booth, keiki i.d. booth, entertainment, as well as a bouncing castle, food trucks, and craft fair on the campus. Proceeds from a student-run arcade will go directly to each grade level running individual booths. Monies raised from the silent auction will fund the purchase of a kiln for the school. Auction items include: weekend getaways, recreational activities, lunch with Mayor Arakawa & Managing Director Keith Regan, gift certificates to Maui’s fabulous restaurants and more, thanks to generous contributions by our local community. The event is expected to end at 6:00 p.m.

The Spring Fling schedule includes:
• Magic Show by Magician Kyle Ginoza at 4:00 p.m.
• Students’ Variety Show to run during the entire event.
• Entertainment by Ileina & Friends

Scripts will be available for purchase before and after school on the Thursday and Friday prior to the event in front of the office and cafeteria, as well as at the event.
