This free event brings good luck to all with fireworks and Steve Catugal’s Maui Maretial Arts Society Lion Dancers, Chinese cultural demonstrations, Chinese cultural entertainment, chinese attire contest for kids, Chinese cooking contest and lots of good luck to bring in the New Year.

Lions, firecrackers and martial arts – oh my! Au’s Shaolin Arts Society visits from Oahu to kick off “The Year of the Sheep” with a traditional display of martial arts mastery, firecrackers and the colorful lion dance.

Makawao Town’s 23rd Annual Chinese New Year’s Lion Dance Celebration
Makawao merchants invite you to come and join in this celebration. The Au’s Shaolin Arts Society will offer the Lion Dance with a Martial Arts Demonstration and plenty of fireworks to open the New Year! Saturday, February 21st at 10 a.m. on the corner of Baldwin and Makawao Avenues. After the demonstration the lion will dance through the streets of Makawao!

Learn about Hawaii’s beloved green sea turtles in an up close and personal setting. Guests will learn about the biology, behavior and diet of green sea turtles from the team that cares for the animals on a daily basis. This activity is included with Aquarium admission.
