The XTERRA Adventure Fest Maui is an Off-Road Adventure event on the island of Maui featuring Off-Road Trail Runs begins August 20, 2016.   The event consists of a 5k and 10k trail run and also a Keiki 2k run.

**All Keiki doing 2k trail run will receive medals

Plantation Festival at Queen Kaahumanu Center

Queen Ka’ahumanu Center announces the inaugural Plantation Festival scheduled for Saturday, August 20 from 9:30am – 2:30pm.

The event will consist of cultural booths that will include visual cultural education elements and an ethnic menu.  Ongoing cultural entertainment includes a festival fashion show featuring traditional and contemporary cultural designs.  A plantation history walk will display historical facts and photos, and for the keiki, an art contest is scheduled and interactive plantation keiki games is scheduled.  Guests will also have the opportunity to participate with the Plantation Passport, a guide through the many cultural booths. Passports should be stamped by each cultural organization in order to be eligible for QKC discount coupons and an opportunity to win the Las Vegas vacation grand prize.

“We are delighted to bring the community together for this inaugural event in celebration of our multicultural community”, says Toni Rojas, Marketing Director & Co-Chairperson.  “Lynn Araki-Regan, our co-chairperson was excited to work with us on this celebration and brings a wealth of ideas and energy to ensure a memorable and successful event”, says Rojas.  Cultural community organizations have contributed to the components of the event and a final pre-event meeting will be scheduled in early July.

See, touch, and learn about Hawaii’s marine invertebrates with a marine naturalist! Encounter Hawaii’s tide pool critters during a fun, interactive presentation. A marine naturalist will conduct the presentation from within the Discovery Pool or Tide Pool exhibit with sea cucumbers, sea stars, urchins, and other critters. Included with Aquarium admission.

Featuring a monthly, rotating- themed Exploration Station at Maui Ocean Center’s Living Reef! Speak with a marine naturalist and learn about turtles in August, marine debris in September, and marine invertebrates in October.
