Wheel Throwing & Handbuilding

Cups, plates, bowls, tiles and more! In this introductory class, students will create their own functional art as they explore the handling of clay using wheel throwing, handbuilding, glazing, and texturing techniques. Students will enjoy this muddy, messy and fun art form!

Using materials such as pastels, clay, paint, and paper that stimulate creative impulses and fuel artistry, children will learn creative processes that little hands can manage with help. There will be music, stories, and lots of fun for all!
Jewelry Designers Club: Metalsmithing Rocks!

Become your own jewelry designer! Students will learn the foundational elements of mealsmithing: cutting, drilling, piercing, and soldering metal. Projects include pendants, bracelets, earrings and/or rings. You’ll finish class with beautiful jewelry creations of your own design! No previous jewelry experience necessary.

We will explore topics such as advanced darkroom techniques, print toning, hand-coloring, photograms, handmade developers, cyanotype and van dyke brown printing on paper and silk, chromoskedasic printing, and more! No camera needed unless you have a film camera that you would like to use.

This jewelry class will concentrate on more advance skills such as wire wrapping sea glass and stone, creating a beaded chain, and stamping letters into leather and metal. Elements of design will be taught as well.

An introduction to the basics of photography: composition, lighting, color, aperture, and shutter speed. Students will photograph different genres, such as portrait, nature, and abstract. Basic photo editing using iPhoto will also be taught.
