Philosophy
Imua Preschool will take a team approach to a child’s learning journey. Our preschool professionals will work closely with our parents and families to create Individualized Education Programs (IEP.)At Imua Inclusion Preschool, our goal is to provide a welcoming, well-prepared learning environment that is developmentally appropriate for your individual child. We use solid educational theory and years of teaching experience to back up our successful play-based, relationship-based, place-based approach to learning.Children learn best in the context of strong relationships with adults who authentically engage in their world. We honor this unique time in life while designing a program that encourages growth of the whole child – physically, socially, emotionally, and cognitively. We hope to stimulate your child’s imagination and joy for learning in order to help them reach their full potential in life. Our program operates with just three universal rules consistent with our philosophy:

·        We take care of ourselves
·        We take care of each other
·        We take care of the things around us

Play-Based Learning
People learn through doing and are more likely to retain information when given the freedom to discover things on their own. Discovery and exploration are emphasized. At Imua, children are given the time, space, and resources needed to create their own understanding of concepts and to develop skills necessary for independent learning.Relationship-Based Learning
At Imua, we aim to establish strong, positive relationships with children and families to create authentic partnerships. We also reach out to the local community, broadening the child’s perspective and building relationships within our local area.Place-Based Learning
Place-based learning begins with the familiar surroundings of the child’s natural and cultural environment. Placing learning in a context that is familiar to the child helps them to connect new information with prior knowledge. The focus is on connecting children to the local community and culture, and on inspiring environmental stewardship.
