For the past three decades, Maui Academy of Performing Arts (MAPA) has brought live professional theatre to preschool and elementary schools statewide. This spring 6,000 Maui students will see the acclaimed children’s book Stellaluna come to life in their schools.

Adapted from the book by Janell Cannon in arrangement with the author, the forty-minute play uses music, puppets and humor to tell the heartwarming story of a baby bat who discovers the essence of friendship. The cast includes some of Maui’s most talented performers: Leighanna Locke, Marti Kluth, Aaron Candelaria and Jennifer Sue Mallard. The script was written by Saskia Janse with music by Guus Ponsioen.

MAPA will also present two public performances of Stellaluna on Saturday March 7 at 11:00 am and 1:00 pm at Steppingstone Playhouse in Queen Ka’ahumanu Center. The show is appropriate for families with kids ages 2-10.

Tickets are $4 and are available at the theatre door. Call (808) 244-8760 for more information.
